BIWS PowerPoint Pro

Here’s How to Master PowerPoint So You Complete Investment Banking Pitch Books and Buy-Side Investment Recommendations in Half the Time and Move Straight to the Front of the "Top-Tier Bonus and Promotion" Line

Tired of wasting time aligning shapes and formatting text while your MD or PM is breathing down your neck to get a presentation from you? Then the BIWS PowerPoint Pro 2.0 course is the solution you’ve been looking for…

PowerPoint Pro 2.0 is the only course on the market at any price that teaches you how to master PowerPoint as it is used in investment banking, private equity, hedge funds, and other finance roles.

By "master," we don't mean "Here’s how you Save a File!" or "Look, here’s how you insert a text box on a slide!"

We mean: “Here’s how you optimize your entire PowerPoint setup and create custom shortcuts to maximize your speed, learn all the ninja tricks for alignment, distribution, and formatting that no one else knows, and get practice creating the most common presentation and slide types used in the finance industry.”

By the end, you’ll be a speed demon in PowerPoint.

Here’s what the full course includes, and how it will help you save hours of time, leave the office earlier, and put yourself on the fast-track for bonuses and promotions:

  • Optimize Your PowerPoint Setup: The first and most important step is to customize your PowerPoint setup and add the most common commands to the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT). This process alone will save you hours of time, and yet most people don't do it at all - or they do it incorrectly. We'll show you the ropes and explain how to use the interface, common commands, and shortcuts as efficiently as possible.
  • Master Shapes, Text, and Formatting: These are the key building blocks you need for any slide or presentation – so you’ll learn the fundamentals, including how to insert and draw them properly, how to align them anywhere, and how to distribute, group, and format them, including features like the Format Dipper and Default Shapes that are grossly underused but incredibly useful.

  • Organize Your Presentations Like a Pro: You’ll learn how to use the Slide Master and Sections to organize and rearrange entire presentations, create templates for company profile slides, and make the editing process more efficient; you’ll even learn the subtleties that other courses completely skip over, like Placeholders vs. normal objects within the Slide Master.
  • Paste in and Format Excel Charts, Diagrams, and More: This is one of the most critical tasks you’ll complete in finance, and you’ll triple your efficiency after watching the lessons here – we cover everything from financial model paste-ins to valuation bar charts to “football field” graphs, and even show you how to manipulate company logos, tables, and text from Word.

  • Learn by Watching and Practicing Yourself: Almost every lesson in the course includes a practice exercise at the end so you can test your knowledge and understanding, and get even faster with the key shortcuts. The entire last module of the course also consists of additional practice exercises where you test yourself by creating new slides, fixing problems on existing slides, and re-creating slides from scratch.
  • Get Dozens of Sample Pitch Book, Presentation, and Company and Deal Profile Layouts: Two modules of the course are dedicated to different slide layouts for 1-page, 2-page, column, quadrant, and multiple-row profile layouts, as well as sample 1-page and multi-page deal profiles you can use at assessment centers and in case study-based interviews. You’ll get practice creating these profiles, and then you’ll get hundreds of presentations from banks that use different layouts (NOTE: These are not PowerPoint files, just images and HTML files from public filings).
  • Gain a Greater Attention to Detail Than Veteran Bankers: You’ll get practice applying “finishing touches” to a presentation, incorporating a senior banker’s feedback and changes, and fixing spelling, grammar, and other alignment issues across different slides. The lack of attention to detail is a top reason for lower bonuses and poor year-end reviews… and you avoid all that with this set of lessons.

  • Learn More Advanced Features That Let You Accomplish Ordinarily Impossible Tasks: You’ll learn to use “Ninja Lines” to align shapes into positions that would ordinarily be impossible; you’ll also learn how to merge shapes and create and modify SmartArt to create new types of shapes such as Harvey Balls that are not built into PowerPoint.
  • Full, Word-for-Word Transcripts and Quick Reference Guides: Video is great, but sometimes you want it in writing as well. So each lesson in the course comes with a full, word-for-word transcript – and you get quick reference guides for the keyboard shortcuts (both built-in and custom shortcuts) and how to use the course effectively and efficiently.
  • Track Your Progress and Take Notes: Check off each lesson as you go, and take notes you can refer back to in the future so you can make your study time fast and productive. You can even print out all your notes at once when you find out about that interview 2 hours from now and need a sudden crash course.

  • Test Yourself with In-Video and End-of-Module Quizzes: In addition to following along and completing your own exercises, you’ll also answer quiz questions in the “Large” version of each video, and you can review all the questions at the end of each module in the course. Full answer keys and explanations for all the quiz questions are also provided.
  • 365-Day-Per-Year Expert Support: We have a team of experienced Investment Bankers standing by to respond to your questions, comments, and emails 365 days per year, for as long as you need. This is like having your own modeling and presentation “wingman” on tap – and you never know when you’ll need that tip that saves you 3 hours of time and lets you finish on time!

  • Unconditional 12-Month Money-Back Guarantee: We’re so convinced that PowerPoint Pro is the most practical and effective program of its kind that it comes with an unconditional, 12-month money-back guarantee. That’s how much we believe in these courses.

What You Get – and What

PowerPoint Pro

Will Do for You

When you’re interviewing for internships and full-time jobs at investment banks, private equity firms, and hedge funds, a few questions will come up over and over again…

  • Can you analyze a recent deal and discuss it with us?
  • Can you create a short slide deck on the merits of this acquisition?
  • Can you pitch us a stock and make a long/short recommendation?
  • Can you recommend which company we should acquire?

A long time ago, interviews focused more on specific technical questions…

…but over time, they have become increasingly case study-based, especially at smaller firms and for buy-side roles.

To answer these questions and present deals, stock pitches, and investment recommendations, you have to understand both the structure of presentations and the mechanics of how to craft them.

You’ll master both of those with the 49 lessons in the PowerPoint Pro course.

And then when you’re on the job, you’ll be using PowerPoint for hours each day - especially in investment banking roles.

Here are the tasks you’ll routinely have to complete:

  • Managing Director in Investment Banking: “Please draft a pitch book to describe a potential client’s valuation, and recommend an appropriate M&A process to the client.”
  • Hedge Fund Portfolio Manager: “Draft a few slides on whether or not we should continue looking into this company as a potential investment.”
  • Private Equity Partner: “Draft a memo for the investment committee and describe your findings on this company – and please make an investment recommendation.”
  • Vice President in Investment Banking: “Please do some research on potential buyers in this market, and create a 2-page profile for the best one and 1-page company profiles on the 5 next-best acquirers.”

Through the course, you’ll learn how to accomplish all of those tasks – and much more.

The core lessons are based on a case study of a sell-side M&A / valuation pitch book for Jazz Pharmaceuticals, where you present your valuation of the company and illustrate your findings using charts, graphs, and other visuals rather than boring blocks of text:

Once you learn how to create each slide in this presentation, you’ll expand your knowledge via other presentations and company / deal profiles.

You’ll get hundreds of real presentations used by banks (NOTE: These are HTML and image files, not editable presentations), along with representative PowerPoint presentations that you might use in hedge fund and private equity roles.

And toward the end of the course, you’ll get many examples of deal and company profiles that you can immediately put to use for all the tasks above:

  • A one-page company profile template.
  • A more detailed two-page company profile template.
  • A two-column company profile template.
  • A quadrant profile template (i.e., four companies per slide).
  • A “profile summary” template for ten rows of company profiles per slide.
  • A one-page M&A deal profile template you might use in an investment banking-style presentation.
  • An eight-page M&A deal profile template you might use at an assessment center in London (or other regions that use ACs).

These templates are all based on real companies and real deals: examples include large pharmaceutical acquirers and the $4 billion leveraged buyout of Life Time Fitness by TPG and Leonard Green.

Immediately After Signing Up...

And here’s the full run-down of what’s in the course:

Module 1: Overview and PowerPoint Setup

In this module, you’ll learn how and why PowerPoint is used in the finance industry, and why mastery of the key shortcuts and tricks can save you hours of time each day – resulting in a better life, higher pay, and better promotion and exit opportunities.

You’ll get a tour of the PowerPoint interface, and you’ll learn how to set up the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT), the slide master, and the formatting rules you’ll use over and over again.

You will also see examples of the real-life uses of PowerPoint, including in pitch books in investment banking and investment recommendations in private equity and hedge funds.

The final lesson of this module gives you a Quick Start Guide you can use to decide which lessons to focus on and which lessons to skip if you have limited time to complete this course.

Number of Lessons: 5
Length of Module: 1 hour and 15 minutes

Module 2: Shapes, Slides, Alignment, and Distribution

In this module, you’ll get a crash course on how to insert, format, align, group, and distribute shapes in PowerPoint, and you’ll practice your skills with numerous slides taken from a finished pitch book presentation for Jazz Pharmaceuticals.

In addition to all the standard commands for editing and formatting shapes and text, you’ll learn about features that few others know about, such as the Format Dipper, Default Shapes, and Ninja Lines for alignments that would ordinarily be impossible via the built-in PowerPoint commands.

You’ll also learn about connector lines for creating hierarchy diagrams, the “Merge Shape” feature for creating odd-shaped boxes and Harvey Balls, and the SmartArt feature for process diagrams, hierarchies, and more.

Number of Lessons: 12
Length of Module: 5 hours and 9 minutes

Module 3: The Slide Master and Sections for Organization

In this module, you’ll take a step back from individual shapes, text boxes, and slides, and learn how to manipulate PowerPoint presentations at a higher level with the Slide Master, Sections, and viewing modes.

You’ll start with a crash course on the Slide Master, and you’ll learn all its advantages and disadvantages, and cases where it might be useful or not so useful. You will also get practice creating a template slide for company profiles in a pitch book.

Then, you’ll learn how to use Sections to organize and rearrange presentations, and you’ll gain familiarity with the different slide viewing modes in PowerPoint and how they can help you fix problems in the presentation.

Number of Lessons: 4
Length of Module: 1 hour and 49 minutes

Module 4: Using Excel and Word Data, Pictures, and Tables

In this module, you will learn how to paste in data, graphs, and charts from Excel, Word, and Internet searches, and you’ll understand how to format it correctly within PowerPoint.

You’ll begin with several lessons on how to paste in Excel data, financial models, and graphs, and you’ll learn the different ways to paste in objects and how you can save time when doing so. You’ll also learn more about a few specific types of graphs that are tricky to format, such as the “football field” valuation graph.

Then, you will get practice pasting in company logos for use in profile and potential buyer/seller slides, and you’ll learn the trade-offs of different methods of pasting in data from Word.

Finally, you’ll conclude the module with a lesson on tables in PowerPoint, and you’ll understand how to use them and format them with ease.

Number of Lessons: 6
Length of Module: 2 hours and 50 minutes

Module 5: Finishing Touches

In this module, you’ll learn how to apply “finishing touches” to a PowerPoint presentation by inserting page numbers, footnotes, and labels, and then properly incorporating and checking your MD’s feedback, notes, and markup on your presentation.

You’ll also learn how to complete “final checks” for grammar, spelling, spacing, alignment, and more, and how to avoid common problems and oversights.

Number of Lessons: 3
Length of Module: 1 hour and 42 minutes

Module 6: Presentation and Pitch Book Examples

In this module, you’ll gain exposure to different types of pitch books, client presentations, and investment recommendation presentations used by real banks and other finance firms.

Rather than focusing on specific shortcuts or the mechanics of slide creation, here we look at presentations at a much higher level and show you the key components of M&A, valuation, deal process update, equity/debt, and industry overview presentations; we also cover CIMs, placement memos, and management presentations.

You’ll also learn how to structure and present investment recommendations in private equity and hedge fund interviews, and you’ll get a few example presentations from our other courses that you can re-purpose for your interviews.

Number of Lessons: 6
Length of Module: 2 hours and 8 minutes

Module 7: Company and Deal Profiles

In this module, you’ll get practice creating different types of company and deal profiles for use in pitch books and other presentations.

You’ll start with the familiar one-page profile format, then learn how to create a two-page profile, and then you’ll get practice with two-profile-per-slide and four-profile-per-slide layouts, as well as with a profile summary that lists 5-10 companies on the same slide.

Finally, you’ll wrap up by creating a “deal case study slide” that you might use in a pitch book or even as a supplement for your own resume, and you’ll learn how to create the same deal case study over multiple slides for use in an assessment center exercise.

Number of Lessons: 7
Length of Module: 2 hours and 41 minutes

Module 8: Practice Exercises

In this module, you will get practice completing exercises related to alignment, distribution, and formatting in PowerPoint. The lessons here are not a “required” part of the course, but they will help you gain speed and efficiency in PowerPoint.

You will also learn how to create some of the process diagrams and more complex slides in the Jazz Pharmaceuticals pitch book that we skipped over earlier in the course, such as the “Other Valuation Considerations” slide and the Process Recommendations and Timeline slides.

Finally, you will get some useful templates in this module that you can apply to other presentations for tasks like creating “Management Team” slides and turning a list of boring bullet points into a more interesting set of diagrams.

Number of Lessons: 6
Length of Module: 1 hour and 51 minutes

So, What’s Your Investment in
the PowerPoint Pro 2.0 Course?

To put this in context, let’s look at your Return on Investment in this course…

The pay for entry-level investment banking jobs varies from year to year, but it's safe to say that even entry-level Analysts would make at least $100,000+ USD right out of university.

At the MBA level, that climbs to $200,000 USD. And as you progress, your total compensation only gets higher and higher; top bankers earn 7 figures annually. And every top banker had to start at the entry level and get their foot in the door, just like you today.

Compared with the potential upside, the enrollment fee for this course is nominal:

Your investment in the full PowerPoint Pro 2.0 course (including ALL of the valuable content and training detailed above) is just $97.

Here’s how you can think of that course enrollment fee:

  • If you tried to learn everything here by yourself instead, it would take you at least 50-60 hours – and you’d have no one to check your work or answer your questions. Even if you assume a rate of only $10 per hour, self-study would cost you at least $500 – $600 worth of time.
  • Once you’re actually working in investment banking, you might be working on a pitch book at 3 AM – and suddenly realize that you don’t know how to fix a formatting problem.

Leave in that kind of error and you’ll hear all about it in your year-end review – it’s a competitive field and everyone else is hyper-attentive to detail.

Bonus tiers for Analysts can be $5,000 to $10,000 USD apart – so simple formatting errors in your presentations could actually cost you $5,000 to $10,000.

Or you could just sign up for PowerPoint Pro and prevent all that from happening.

By doing so, you:

  • Save yourself potentially hours of time each day – worth $20,000+ at an annual compensation of $100,000, or $40,000+ at a yearly compensation of $200,000.
  • Get training that would normally cost you at least $500 – $600 in opportunity cost, and likely far more than that.
  • Avoid the key pitfalls that might cost you $5,000, $10,000, or more in lost earnings from your year-end bonus.
  • And significantly improve your chances of winning jobs that pay $100,000 – $200,000 or more per year, even when you’re first starting out. That’s a 1,000x – 2,000x return on investment!

There is simply no other way to get this level of training... this level of support, help, and troubleshooting on demand... this level of testing and practice... and this level of access to a community of thousands of peers...

…at ANY price!

To date, over 22,981+ people have invested in BIWS training and gone on to secure lucrative and stimulating jobs in the industry. I want you to be next, and I want to make this a "no-brainer" decision for you.
